Why are our servers so cost effective ?

This is because of the following main reasons:-

1. Linux places very low requirements on the hardware, coupled with Linux's superior pre-emptive multi-tasking, means superior performance. Therefore lower specification hardware can be used also the hardware does not need to replaced as often as other operating systems.
2. Because the software is free (covered by the GPL license) we only charge for installing and configuring the features you need, and extra features can be added later as required (most can be done remotely)
3. As there are no client licenses required, you do not have to purchase extras user licenses to allow extra people to access the server, also the systems scale to the limit of the hardware, this is normally 10,000’s of email per day, depending upon the other features being run on the system.
4. Support costs are low, because Linux is very stable, updates can be installed and over 99.5% of the administration can be done remotely saving onsite and traveling time, also install software or upgrading software normally does not mean rebooting the system as with other operating systems.

    Many companies have E-Mail and Internet access on a small number of PC’s with modems on each as a low cost method of using the Internet, this in many cases is no longer cost effective as with ADSL services becoming cheaper in many cases it is as cheap to have an ADSL line with the higher speed and permanent access than a single MODEM internet account.

    ADSL can also provide controlled, shared internet access & E-Mail to people PC’s, the systems we supply protect your internal systems from attack by people on the Internet, whilst providing protection from SPAM (unsolicited E-Mail’s), and Anti-virus protection, and if required control who has internet access and to what Internet sites (normally blocking sites which contain offensive material) or they can limit access to a small number of pre-determined sites, also the time when access is allowed can be controlled.

    The servers can also block the downloading of software or other files which may be illegal copies of copyrighted material, this is important as Directors and managers are legally liable for any such action by their employees.

    Some of our servers also provide data storage and backup facilities to reduce the risk of data loss, as they provide a central repository for data storage and the data can be backed up regularly, this can be used to provide company wide access to some data and restricted access to other data, also each user can have access their own unique area on the system.

Ongoing support costs:-

Ongoing support costs for our systems are lower than most other systems mainly because of the following:-

• In most cases updates or extra software can be installed remotely using a secure link or dial in modem to administrate the system saving the cost of site visits.
• We provide a Graphical interface to administrate the system, which means that in 99% of cases you do not need to know anything about Linux to make changes to the system or add users. This is setup to be used over a secure link ensuring a very high level of security (the same as used for credit card transactions!)
