Linux Firewall outline description:-

    This is a very flexible hardened, stateful firewall system, with the following main features, DHCP, Intrusion Detection System, Supplied with ADSL router, NAT, IPSec standard VPN, DMZ, Proxy server and built in 3 PCI 10/100 network cards. 

Herman-20 specifications:-

  • Suitable for up to 450 users depending upon bandwidth usage

  • A hardened, stateful (IPTABLES), stable and highly configurable firewall

  • A browser based administration system for easy administration of the firewall and other services

  • A DHCP client that allows the system to, optionally, obtain its IP address from your ISP

  • A DHCP server that can help configure machines on your internal network

  • A caching DNS proxy, to help speed up Domain Name queries

  • A web caching proxy, to speed up web access

  • NAT system to hide your internal TCP/IP address from the internet.

  • An intrusion detection system to detect changes to the system

  • The ability to partition your network into a GREEN, safe, network protected from the Internet, and a DMZ or ORANGE network containing publicly accessible servers, partially protected from the Internet

  • A VPN that allows you to connect your internal network to another network across the Internet, forming a single logical network

  • Built in 3 PCI 10/100 network cards, allowing for a DMZ if required (does not HAVE to be used)

  • Supplied with an external ADSL modem/router

  • 256mb Ram

  • 1.6Ghz CPU

  • Mini tower case

  • 40gb hard drive

  • External ISDN or V90 modems can be used if required.

  • Supplied installed on new hardware which is covered by a 12 month return to base warranty
